Puzzle Table: Weeks 18-24

It's fourth dimension 1 time over again to commencement a novel schoolhouse year, together with then that way it's also fourth dimension to brand certain the previous twelvemonth has been wrapped upward on this blog! One of the things I haven't wrapped upward from the 2017-2018 School Year is my puzzle tabular array recap posts. You tin banking venture fit out previous posts here, here, together with here.

Not certain what I hateful past times a puzzle table? Inspired by Arrows Puzzle - This dry out erase based puzzle didn't larn quite every bit much attention/participation from my students every bit the puzzles from other weeks which involve manipulating pieces. Influenza A virus subtype H5N1 lot of my students don't similar reading the instructions before jumping into a puzzle, together with then I'm thinking this is why many of them didn't fountain into this puzzle.

Week 19: Double Letters - These puzzles drive my students insane! I ever accept to a greater extent than than a few students mad at me when I won't divulge the give-and-take at the destination of the calendar week when the puzzle is getting packed upward to brand room for the adjacent week's puzzle. When I solve these puzzles myself, I honour that I either honour the footing RIGHT AWAY or it's nearly impossible to figure out! Haven't solved 1 amongst a prissy pump footing yet.

Week 20: Cover the Shape Puzzle - Remember the Duck/Camel/Heart puzzles mentioned inwards before puzzle tabular array recaps? This puzzle uses the exact same pieces. Score! Sadly, I couldn't figure out a cool bespeak this puzzle, together with then I had to settle for "Cover the Shape."

Week 21: Hidden Equation Puzzle - This dry out erase based puzzle got a chip to a greater extent than attending than the arrows puzzle I mentioned above. I retrieve this was because the puzzle was much to a greater extent than direct forward. I chose to role multiplication dots instead of x's because I idea my students powerfulness confuse the x's for variables. But, some of the comments said people were confused well-nigh the dots existence decimal points. So, this puzzle may require a chip of live still...

Week 22: Square the Shapes Puzzle - This puzzle led to some awesome conversations amongst students! The goal is to house the 3 circles together with then a foursquare is formed amongst the circle already provided on the puzzle board. Then, produce the same amongst the squares, the triangles, together with the pentagons. Oh, wait, there's 1 to a greater extent than catch: each foursquare must accept dissimilar dimensions! My students were convinced it was impossible, but I hope it's not!

Week 23: Don't Get Stung Puzzle - This puzzle got a lot of attending on the puzzle table! I retrieve this was a number of the fact that the puzzle pieces are together with then eye-catching. I had huge groups of students gathered unopen to the puzzle trying to house the pieces to that shapes were non repeated inwards whatsoever of the rows (in whatsoever of the directions) AND that all the bees were hidden. Most of my students started off simply trying to enshroud all the bees. They wanted to examine that it was fifty-fifty possible to enshroud all of the bees. I dearest this puzzle because it got kids to the puzzle tabular array that rarely tried their mitt at puzzles all twelvemonth long.

Week 24: Mixed Emotions Puzzle - This was the terminal puzzle for the puzzle tabular array for the schoolhouse year. After my students had a productive manage for quite a piece amongst terminal week's puzzle, I looked forrad to them tackling this puzzle. They eagerly did, together with most of them ended upward apace solving the puzzle.I retrieve this was a number of alone existence composed of iv dissimilar puzzle pieces. Still, fun was had, together with brains were challenged!

So, 24 puzzles later, I can't imagine non having a puzzle tabular array inwards my novel classroom. I'm looking forrad to reusing my favorite puzzles from this twelvemonth amongst my novel students together with trying out enough of novel puzzles, too.
