Statistics: Game Of Greed

I've been looking for fun ways to collect quantitative information inwards my statistics class.  Let's simply say my students are tired of surveys of how many siblings they accept or how many states they've visited.

I got this action from Greedy Pig.

I modified it inwards simply the slightest means to become far into a booklet foldable that volition gum into my students' interactive notebooks.

Here's the questions that students worked through:

 Front:

Inside Left:
Inside Right:

I was actually impressed yesteryear my students' answers to the benefits of the diverse types of graphs.  They had been actually hating on boxplots lately, but they did Federal Reserve annotation that they could come upwards inwards handy for diverse things.

Want to know what made the activity?  We didn't simply gyre whatever die.  We rolled this jumbo blow-up conk that a coworker gave me final year.

Had I known how big this conk was, I in all likelihood would accept changed my mind.  But, it was novel too inwards the package, too simply looked similar a fun die.  This matter is huuuuuuuuuge.  It took forever to blow up!

My students had a lot of fun playing this game, too they seemed legitimately interested inwards the information analysis because they wanted to know if boys or girls were meliorate at the game.  Of course, I had a grouping of boys produce upwards one's request heed they were all going to remain in/go out at the same time, too thence that definitely influenced our data.

They've also wanted to endure along playing amongst the conk always since.  I can't just simply stick this matter inwards the cabinet to endure along it hidden away...

Want my (only slightly) modified version of this activity?  I've uploaded it equally a PUB too a PDF file here.
